In this video: we take a close look at Autoart's 1/18 scale model of their white Porsche 911 GT1, race car number 25. Cars, numbers 25 and 26 competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1997.
Thanks to our friend, Kevin, he brought my attention to the color coded locking wheel nuts. A detail Autoart has included in the 1997 Porsche 911 GT1. The reason for the color coding is because they are side specific.
Kevin explains,
"One side is left hand thread so the color indicates which side of the car they go on, and the thread on the single nut is oriented so it won't back itself out as the wheel turns forward. Hence opposite sides are threaded differently to tighten,"
